Or, how did we become the brand new Tom Leykis?
You know how certain things are burned forever into your memory? Even months or years later you can still remember exactly how you felt.
Maybe you’re a normal person and it’s events like graduating from college or getting married or having a baby. Or maybe (probably not) you’re like me and it’s the day Mr. KABC got fired, the day you read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and the day you listened to Frosty, Heidi, and Frank’s last show on KLSX.
I will never forget Frank’s tearful (and drunk) speech near the end of the show when he declared he loved Frosty and Heidi more than he loved his own family. (And then blamed Tom Leykis for the station’s downfall.)
Like a cherry on a morose sundae…wait, what’s a morose sundae?
Like a black rose on Miss Havisham’s wedding cake, FHF then released a “special treat” for us. The SADDEST goodbye video ever!
Now let’s fast-forward through the next 11 months.
FHFU starts out as a low-end weekly podcast.
FHFU ramps up to a good daily podcast.
FHF get hired at KABC.
Frank promises to continue FHFU. Because he loves it, we love it, and he loves us.
Frosty quits FHFU.
Frank and Heidi vow to continue HFU. Because they love it, we love it, and they love us.
Vacation.
Frank and Heidi realize we don’t want FHFU without the first F.
Frank and Heidi quit FHFU. And they blame it on us.
The End
Okay, I just had the Harry Potter and FHF thing in common with you… **spoooooky**
Anyway, I’m about a month and a half behind in podcasts, so by the time I hear all of the podcasts pertaining to all of this it’ll probably be March!
As much fun as FHFU was, I’m still glad that they actually have a terrestrial show again.
Now I’m off to finish Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows :P
Finish Deathly Hallows for the first time, or like the 100th time? :)
Hey, it sounds like you might be just as annoyed as me that FHF pulled this. I can understand their reasoning, but I think they might have jumped the gun a bit. So a hundred people email and say they don’t listen to the KABC podcast, maybe a few hundred. What about the thousands like me (or maybe I’m on the only one) who listened to all ~3 hours of both shows? Frankly, given the topics on FHFU I felt that Frosty was completely out of place anyway. It was nice to hear them speak freely for an hour, and I would have continued to listen with just Frank and Heidi. In the end, it would have been nice if they had put it to the FULL audience before making the decision. Pretty weak IMO.
Hopefully the folks over at HotTalkLA can do more daily shows and fill this void in listening time for me. I wish Lara Hermanson wouldn’t have disappeared. That would have been a show I would have listened to everyday. Now it’s just PGP and FHF daily and the rest of the weekly/biweekly shows. Bummer.
Keep up the blogging. I came right here after hearing that crappy FHFU/HFU announcement. :)
Aww, thank you.
Completely agree with you about FHF and Lara Hermanson.
Just a note from San Diego- Dave, Shelly & Chainsaw off the air after 20 years on KGB. Radio is really crumbling.
Always ready for new posts here, too.
head’s up: media fly is streaming After Hours- it’s an HFU on Friday afternoon!
